Why I’m Starting This Blog

I’ve been shooting photos for years—first on film, then digital, then mobile. In the beginning, I didn't use to post them and only posted the occasional post on my other blog kiasukid.blogspot.com. After a while, I also jumped on to the Instagram bandwagon and for some time, it was enough. It was quick and easy but maybe too easy and soon it just felt too fleeting, just like the snapshots I was beginning to take on my mobile phone which had soon become my go-to phone.. But somewhere along the way, the romance of shooting began to faded.

I used to live in the darkroom, pushing film stocks into strange environments just to see what would happen. I loved the unpredictability, the grain, the imperfections. Plastic cameras, expired rolls, taping up disposable cameras in the dark so I can reuse them—those were my tools. And they made sense to me.

When film became too expensive, I switched to digital. It was practical, but something got lost. Mobile cameras made it easier to shoot, but harder to feel. I stopped chasing emotion and started collecting moments. Pretty ones, but they began to feel empty.

Then I stumbled across the Chuzhao Toy Camera. It was digital, yes—but it had soul. It reminded me that photography doesn’t have to be sharp or perfect to be meaningful. I started shooting again—not for likes, not for clarity, but for feeling.

This blog is the new home for my photography. It's a return to shooting with intention, regardless of the camera in my hand. Here, you’ll find my new experiments alongside my other work—past and present—from digital, mobile, and film. This is a space not just for the in-between, the blurry, and the broken, but above all, for the beautiful.
